I get what you mean about being sucked into her life. And yeah, I think I ran to the grocery more often when she lived with us, too! She was always running out for snacks and treats, and I'd tag along figuring there had to be something I needed. My grocery budget and meal planning suffered for it. Unfortunately, in our situation tensions developed and grew over time and I was so very glad when she left and we were just us again. It was a huge relief in a variety of ways. I hope your situation ends happily!

It's interesting reading other peoples' perspectives on things like this. I never "went out" with people. I have always been an antisocial homebody. Going out, hanging out, shopping, all the things most young people do, stress me out and aggravate me. Having not engaged in them, I certainly don't miss or long for the freedom to do such things! Rather, one of the reasons marriage is fulfilling to me is to have a partner in staying at home. :) I love being alone, but being alone with my love is better, you know? Things I DO miss: I love traveling alone and I sometimes have longings to gallivant off someplace, which of course can't be done. I also loved those golden honeymoon days, the first nine months of our marriage, where we could go wherever and do whatever together without anyone getting in the way. Usually this meant staying in bed most of the day on days off, eating chocolate and wine, reading, giggling and watching Netflix. So it's probably a very good thing that children arrived to make us productive, responsible adults. I would never behave like that now, but it was fun while it lasted. ;-P

Oh dear, your nights sound rough. I keep hearing stories like you describe and I'm realizing my children's sleep habits are very good. I put them in bed, and they stay there for 11 or 12 hours. The baby wakes up to nurse, of course, but it's exceedingly rare for anyone else rouse at night.
